Pandemic
Slow the spread at home: wash hands, wear a mask in public, keep distance and stay home when sick.
Before it arrives
- 1Plan for schools, workplaces and community centres to close.
- 2Stock cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, bottled water and refills of regular medicines.
- 3Check your health insurance and whether your doctor offers telemedicine.
- 4Keep digital copies of important documents.
During
- 1Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Avoid touching your face.
- 2Keep at least six feet (2 m) from people outside your household.
- 3Cover your mouth and nose with a mask in public.
- 4Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, taps and phones.
- 5Stay home as much as possible, and get vaccinated when a vaccine is offered.
- 6If you are exposed, call your doctor and watch for symptoms.
Caring for someone sick at home
- 1Keep them in a separate room, and use a separate bathroom if you can.
- 2Have one person do the caring, and both of you wear masks in shared space.
- 3Open windows to improve airflow when it is safe to do so.
- 4Seek medical help for trouble breathing, confusion, or bluish lips or face.
Share carefully
- 1Pass on information only from official public-health sources.
